Wish You Could Have Your Very Own Storm Cloud? Well, Now You Can

SEPTEMBER 21, 2015

There's nothing quite like watching a storm, the way the clouds light up in all their massive, foaming glory every time lightning strikes. Now what if you could look at one whenever you wanted -- without the rain?

Thanks to this deceptively simple DIY project by YouTuber TiffyQuake, you can! Using simple, cheap materials, create this stunning cloud light in no time. The light, in this instance, was created as a centerpiece for a baby shower, but you can make one for any room or occasion.

Grabs some paper lanterns, cotton batting, a hot glue gun, glue sticks, fishing string, and twinkling LED lights...

Hot-glue the cotton to a white paper lantern.

Do this to differently sized lanterns to create a convincing cloud shape.

Hang them from your desired location with your fishing string.

Pull twinkling LEDs through for a rainy effect!

See how to make a cloud light of your very own in this tutorial:

This project is perfect for a kid's room. It also makes a great centerpiece for a party. It casts a soft, peaceful glow, and by using LED lights, you don't have to worry about a fire hazard.
