Grabbing a round of drinks at the bar is a great way to unwind at the end of the week, and this guy just made that a lot easier for himself by installing one right in his basement.
It was originally meant to be used as an extra bedroom, but that doesn't make much sense considering you have to access it through the garage. So he tore the whole thing down and started from scratch. The epic result will make you wonder if you can make a reservation for your next party.
The original basement with its closet.
No more closet!
He also tore out the moldy, water-stained ceiling.
Friends came over to help him with the drywall.
One wall down, a whole bunch left to go.
Here are the finished walls with wainscot panelling.
Time to start the bar, which is a little bigger than he anticipated.
But hey, the bigger the better!
He recommends investing in a decent-looking sheet of three-quarter-inch plywood for the front.
"...it's better than hoping the sh*tty piece you bought will 'be fine hidden behind the stools.'"
Finish it with nice wood that will absorb the stain well.
After lots of paint and lots of stain, the room is really shaping up.
He used textured wallpaper for the ceiling and painted it with tin finish.
Last important installation: the TV.
He plans to add beer taps...eventually. Hey, he totally deserves to kick back and relax for a bit after all that hard work. Pour yourself something stiff, buddy.
