Some people never see how valuable a piece of land really is. This man is not one of those folks.
When he retired, he purchased a small cabin in the woods. While it might have looked a little lackluster to the naked eye, he saw potential. And when you see what he did to his land, you'll be amazed you didn't see it, too. Incredible!
He bought a small cabin...this is the ugly backyard.
After the winter thaw, though, he got to work clearing all those trees.
Firewood game is strong.
What was left? Oh, just this EPIC VIEW.
In order to create a space where he could enjoy it outside, he enlisted the help of a handy neighbor.
He dug out a spot at the bottom of the hill.
Here's the opening of what would be a fire pit.
Some livestock fencing went up -- this way, the view wouldn't be obstructed.
He dug out holes and put in posts for a retaining wall.
Here they are cemented in place.
And the retaining wall started taking shape.
Some sand was scooped into the area and little boulders defined the pit's circle.
Simple yet so beautiful.
He still has some plans to make it better, but I think he's pretty proud of his work thus far.
I couldn't even see the forest...er, rather, the view through the trees! This is truly worth all that hard work.
