After So Much Loss, This Man Picked Up The Pieces And Made Something Beautiful

Jessica is a writer who lives in Queens, NY. She spends most of her time listening to One Direction, watching TV, and hanging out with her one-eyed cat, Rigby.

Picking up the pieces of your life after a messy divorce can seem impossible.

Not only did this guy lose his wife, but custody of his kids and the home they lived in as well. That's a lot for anyone to process.

But he still had his tools, so he decided to focus his energy on creating something beautiful rather than wallowing in his misfortune.

He started with these random bits and pieces.

Those became the frame.

Then he used the pieces from a dismantled fence to fill the table's top.

He placed them in an angled design.

All the planks are set -- everything is shaping up!

Time to sand it all down.

And add a splash of stain.

With one half done, you can see the rustic charm emerging.

The fully stained result is gorgeous.

He still needs to add some varnish, but the cathartic project turned out wonderfully.

He ended up giving it as a gift to another recent divorcee friend who was in dire need of home furnishings. Here's hoping he keeps building and finds happiness in the process.
