You May Actually Be Jealous Of What This Dog Dad Built For His Two Rescues

Jessica is a writer who lives in Queens, NY. She spends most of her time listening to One Direction, watching TV, and hanging out with her one-eyed cat, Rigby.

Protecting your pups from the elements outside is important. It's easy to find affordable shelter options at your pet or hardware store, but this guy wanted to give his rescued pooches more epic accommodations.

Using a design he found on the Home Depot website, he customized it especially for his four-legged friends. The finished double-decker dog house might have you wishing you could move in yourself!

He built the foundation using two-by-fours and one-by-fours and sprayed them with Flexi-Seal for weatherproofing.

Next up: the walls, using wood glue and nails.

He added more plywood for the roof and frame support.

After the roof was done, he added the deck per Home Depot's instructions.

He made it slightly longer to match the foundation and used more Flexi-Seal for weatherproofing.

He used two-by-three deck supports secured to the roof with screws.

Redwood stain was applied to the deck and foundation, then he painted the house to look like a fire station.

The stairs were originally made with one-by-six boards, but he went back and added extra support brackets.

Looks like he got the dog seal of approval!

Their little friends got a kick out of it, too.

There's no insulation, so it's important to still keep an eye out for your furry friends when the weather gets colder. But that probably won't be a problem since you'll be out there playing with them in their new digs, too!
