Beds are an important life accessory. And I'm talking real beds here, people. After college, there's just no excuse for living the mattress-on-the-floor lifestyle anymore. Trust me, your back will thank you for the upgrade.

But spending money on a reliable frame can be a huge investment. However, if you happen to be a little handy, you can follow this guy's footsteps and build your own out of ordinary pallets. Your dreams will instantly be sweeter when you see his beautiful result.

He used this method to break the pallets down.

Then, he sanded them down.

He made the frame for the headboard with two-by-fours...

When it was set, he added the pallet pieces on top.

Now on to the bed frame...getting rid of the nails was a bit tricky.

He drilled small holes on either side of each to relieve some of the compression.

He arranged the side boards...

And drilled holes for dowels to help with clamping and alignment.

The lumber was then glued, screwed, and clamped.

Success! It all fit together perfectly.

He added some stain, and the gorgeous bed was complete.

Sorry, Ikea, but I think it's safe to say that this guy has you beat.
