They say breaking a mirror gives you seven years of bad luck, but in the case of this adorable wall art idea, I'm almost inclined to say it's totally worth it.
Grab a mirror...really any mirror will do.
You'll also need:
Liquid nails, a caulking gun, a hammer, a heavy-duty paper bag, safety gloves, and a piece of plywood.
Put your mirror in the bag and hammer it a few times to break it up.
You'll want different sizes and shapes of glass pieces, so don't worry about being uniform.
Rebekah at Potholes & Pantyhose painted her plywood white and then laid out the shards in a pattern she was happy with.
Once you're satisfied with the design, start securing the pieces with liquid nails.
Rebekah recommends keeping track of progress with painter's tape -- once you finish a piece you remove the tape from the shard.
You should allow 24 hours for drying time.
Lift up the board to make sure you didn't miss any pieces...
And get ready to hang that bad boy.
You can either screw it right into the wall or use a picture hook kit.
How beautiful does that look?!
Seven years' bad luck...or seven years of great wall art -- you decide!
